(Please read carefully — this is important!!)
Proper tagging ensures your items sell smoothly and that you are paid correctly. Items that are not tagged according to these guidelines may be rejected at check-in.
TAGGING BASICS (REQUIRED)
All consignors must use the Consignment Manager system to create and print tags.
You will need:
- White cardstock (no colored paper)
- Hangers
- Safety pins OR a tagging gun (use carefully)
- Clear packing tape (toys, books, equipment)
- Zip ties (shoes, sets, multiple pieces)
- Masking or painter’s tape (for labeling pieces)
Do not use regular paper — tags must be sturdy and scannable.
TAG INFORMATION (AUTOMATICALLY INCLUDED)
Each tag will include:
- Consignor number
- Item number
- Category
- Size
- Description
- Price
- Discount (Yes/No)
- Donate (Yes/No)
- Barcode
You will enter this information when creating your tags online.
PRINTING YOUR TAGS (VERY IMPORTANT)
- Tags must print 8 per page and fill the entire page
- Print at 100% scale (not “fit to page”)
- Barcodes must be clear and readable
- Do not print with faded ink
Poorly printed tags may not scan and can result in missing or unsold items.
WHERE TO ATTACH TAGS (THIS MATTERS)
👕 CLOTHING
- Attach the tag to the top right front of the garment
- Use a safety pin or tagging gun
- If using a tagging gun, attach only to:
- Manufacturer tag or
- Thick seam under the collar
🚫 Do NOT punch holes in fabric
All hangers should face left (like a question mark).
👖 PANTS
- Pants must be secured to the top of the hanger
- Do NOT fold pants over a hanger
- Use safety pins or pants hangers with clips
Shoppers need to see the full garment.
👗 SETS / OUTFITS
- All pieces must stay together
- Attach pants, skirts, or accessories to the hanger
- Use safety pins or zip ties to secure sets
If pieces separate, the item may not sell.
🧸 TOYS & GAMES
- Toys must be clean, complete, and working
- Small parts should be placed in a zip-top bag
- Tape the tag securely to the main item
- If an item has multiple pieces, label each piece with:
- Consignor number
- Item number
👟 SHOES
- Shoes must be secured together with a zip tie
- No shoe boxes or plastic bags
- Clean soles and sides before bringing
- Add a small piece of tape to each shoe with:
- Consignor number
- Item number
This helps us sell your shoes if a tag becomes detached.
🏡 HOUSEHOLD ITEMS / DECOR
- Secure tags with packing tape
- Fragile items should be wrapped securely
- Multiple-piece items must be labeled clearly
🧺 BLANKETS, TOWELS & LINENS
- These sell best on hangers
- Secure with two safety pins (one on each side)
- Do not bag unless necessary
GROUPING & ORGANIZATION
- Group clothing by gender and size
- Group non-clothing items by category
- Keep similar items together to speed up drop-off and pickup
DISCOUNT & DONATION SETTINGS
When creating tags, you will select:
- Discount: YES or NO (Half-Price Sale)
- Donate: YES or NO (Unsold items)
💡 Items marked Discount: YES are more likely to sell.
FINAL CHECK BEFORE DROP-OFF
Before loading your car:
- Check for stains, damage, or missing parts
- Test battery-operated items
- Ensure all tags are attached securely
- Make sure barcodes are visible
Items not meeting quality or tagging standards may be refused.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Closet 2 Closet is not responsible for items that:
- Are improperly tagged
- Have missing or unreadable tags
- Separate due to improper attachment
Following these rules protects you and your payout.
